SUMMARY:The Plainsmen
DESCRIPTION:“Home Without Maps”\n\n\n\n“Home Without Maps” is more than the title of a concert—it’s a metaphor for what music truly means: a home without borders or coordinates\, a place you can always return to\, even when life takes you far from your homeland. \n\n\n\nThis concert is an emotional journey where songs act as compasses\, guiding the audience through stories of nostalgia\, roots\, and hope. “Home Without Maps” speaks to everyone who has ever felt that home is not a place\, but an emotion\, a memory\, or a song. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJuan Carlos Ruiz \n\n\n\nJuan Carlos Ruiz is a Venezuelan artist\, economist\, entrepreneur\, and TEDx Speaker. He holds a Master of Science in Operation Research and a Master of Business Administration. Since 2016\, he has resided in Boston\, Massachusetts\, where he has performed concerts in several cities across the U.S. and abroad. \n\n\n\nRuiz won the Global Music Award twice in 2022 and was a semifinalist at “Premios de la Música Independiente of Spain.” He is an associated member of The Latin Recording Academy® and The American Society of Composers\, Authors\, and Publishers. \n\n\n\nAs a former member of the Rumbarroco Ensemble of Boston\, Ruiz has been an invited music instructor and performer with various institutions\, including ArCoNet (The Arts & Community Network) in Montgomeryville\, Pennsylvania. In 2018\, he was invited to speak for a nonprofit organization at Boston University called Plan País\, which provides educational experiences to young Venezuelans studying abroad. SUMMARY:FableVision Presents: Day of Play!
DESCRIPTION:UnCommon Corner\, Boylston St &\, Tremont St\, Boston\, MA 02116 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Emerson Day of Play is a day of connection\, fun\, and in-person play at the UnCommon Corner and Harpoon Beer Garden\, located at the corner of Boylston and Tremont in the Boston Common. The event is inspired by the Come Out and Play Festivals in New York\, San Francisco and Philadelphia. \n\n\n\nEmerson students and local game designers have built six original\, in-person outdoor games to get Bostonians new and old excited about the new school year. Visitors will run\, jump\, hunt goblins\, laugh through games of chess\, hit a target or two\, experience the epic highs and lows of moving in Boston\, learn the time-honored art of constructing giant sandwiches\, and try not to explode in the process. We welcome all students\, families\, and passers-by to drop in or spend all day with us at the UnCommon Corner between 12 and 5PM. Play\, be loud\, have fun and meet some new friends! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEmerson Troll Hunt\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSo you’re going to become a media student? Congratulations! You’d better get used to trolls early. Don’t worry\, we’ve got you covered. Start training to look for trolls hiding all around the Day of Play UnCommon Stage and Harpoon Beer Garden space. When you find one\, see what it has to say and assemble the message…but don’t think too hard about it\, they’re just trolls. After a while they even start to look sort of cute! \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nZoe Deyermond\, Peyton Schweibert\, Zeang Fang\, Chris Fortin \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIgnited Emersonians\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Little Building is a dorm at Emerson full of first-years who can’t make a midnight snack without setting off the fire alarm and thus forcing hordes of freshmen out onto the cold\, dark\, streets of Boston. Inspired by popular card game Exploding Kittens\, Ignited Emersonians teaches players about Emerson culture while they compete to be the last person standing. Just don’t draw the fire alarm card – you’ll freeze to death outside\, and worse\, lose the game! \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nDanni Yu\, Noel Li\, Stephanie Lu\, Livia Holt\, Endo Crist \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDeli Demolition\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJohn Sandwich had a dream – towering monuments of food reaching toward the heavens\, bringing delight to giants who roamed the countryside. He obsessed over the concept of “food architecture” and spent his life perfecting what he called “The Grand Ritual of Sandwich Elevation.” He believed that the universe is composed of four primordial ingredients: bread\, protein\, toppings\, and condiments. Assuming the role of sandwich architect\, Deli Demolition players physically stack giant ingredients\, fundamentally building the universe with each placement. \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nEthan Tuccillo\, Ben Fine\, Hannah Bambach\, Jacob Schmidt\, Ellie Abbey \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChess 2\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDo you spend hours of your life every day playing online chess against bots? Do you also spend hours wishing there was some new way you could experience your favorite game? Well\, now there is! Chess 2: The Strategic Comedy is just like regular chess\, but with two new pieces: the jester and the paladin. This adds a new layer of strategy to the game\, though the goal—capture the opponent’s King—remains the same. \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nAiley Adair\, Michael Chow\, Qian Luo\, Wanxuan Yan\, Zoe Golden \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMoving Day\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDid you know that ALL RENTAL LEASES in Boston begin on September 1st? If you don’t\,  you will someday when you join Boston Christmas:  the insane\, competitive\, speed-based packing puzzle that is Moving Day in Boston every September. By moving more boxes than you knew you had\, you’ll collaborate with your new roommates and also compete with your new roommates. You’ll laugh\, you’ll cry\, you’ll probably scream and hopefully\, eventually\, you’ll move into your new apartment. \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nKellian Adams Pletcher and the Teams From FableVision Studios. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAiming for Emerson\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLet’s face it: summer’s over\, but that doesn’t mean that the fun has to end. The New England State Fair might be a two-hour drive away\, but Aiming for Emerson is bringing carnival vibes right to the UnCommon Corner. Whether you want to play solo or with friends\, you’ll surely be \n\n\n\nreminded of that time as a kid that you miserably failed to win the biggest\, coolest stuffed animal at the fair. What’s more fun than that? \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nAiley Adair\, Michael Chow\, Qian Luo\, Wanxuan Yan\, Zoe Golden \n\n\n\n\n\n\nMusical Guests\n\n\n\n\n12:00 – 6:00 PM: DJ Little Kilo \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDJ Little Kilo is UnCommon’s homegrown DJ! SUMMARY:Dwayne Haggins
DESCRIPTION:Dwayne Haggins\n\n\n\n\n\nUnCommon Corner\, Boylston St &\, Tremont St\, Boston\, MA 02116\n\n\n\nHe’s been described as “the love child of Otis Redding and Doc Watson.” “The John Legend of rockabilly.” And recently\, “a ‘what-took-you-so-long’ fusion of Elvis and Marvin Gaye.” But he is Dwayne Haggins\, and his voice is his own. Whether on the stage of a metropolitan concert hall or the makeshift bandstand of a neighborhood dive\, you will find him exploring uncharted musical territories\, listening for new ways to stir his influences into this night’s expression of his unique sound – strangely familiar\, naturally mysterious\, unmistakably his own. \n\n\n\nNotably\, Haggins has shared the stage with acts such as Joe Bonamassa\, Keb Mo\, Jimmy Vivino\, Chris Lane\, Suzanne Santo\, and Fitz and the Tantrums. Haggins was signed in November of 2021 and his Verdict debut LP was released in June of 2022 titled “Call Me Boston”. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n@hagginsmusic \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n@hagginsmusic \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nwww.dwaynehaggins.com
