DESCRIPTION:Nicolás Emden is a multi-instrumentalist\, composer\, singer and songwriter\, originally from Chilean Patagonia. His music navigates the waters of pop\, rock\, and Latin American folk. \n\n\n\nNicolás was a former member and founder of the Chilean band “Tejado Pimiento” (2007-2012) with whom he won the nacional TV contest “Garage Music” (Canal 13) and wrote 2 studio albums\, “Triciclo” (2007) and “Sensación de verdad” (2010). After that\, he published his first solo album named “Como los pájaros” (2014)\, which included a YouTube documentary series traveling and performing throughout Chile called “Como los pájaros x Chile”. \n\n\n\nThe Chilean artist moved to Boston USA in 2014 (where he’s currently based) for the completion of his music studies at Berklee College of Music (2014 – 2016). From there\, he’s been performing and touring throughout the United States\, Canada\, and back to Chile. \n\n\n\nNicolás started his musical journey at the age of 6\, through learning folk South American music\, singing\, and playing the acoustic guitar. Since his school years\, Nicolás has been part of a wide variety of music projects as a multi-instrumentalist\, vocalist\, composer/songwriter\, music director\, and orchestra conductor for professional musical theater shows. Alongside other international performances in the UK\, Panama\, Ecuador\, Canada\, Austria\, and Germany\, she has shared the spotlight with renowned artists such as Braxton Cook\, and Victor Wooten. \n\n\n\nIn October 2023\, Ciara released her debut album\, “Blind. So What?” The jazz/fusion album\, exploring themes of music and blindness\, received praise and major articles from publications like Premier Guitar Magazine\, Bass Musician Magazine and Jazzwise Magazine. Notably\, one of its tracks was honored with the “Young Jazz Composers Award 2023” by the ASCAP Foundation. \n\n\n\nFollowing a successful and souled out release tour in Austria through established jazz venues such as Porgy & Bess Vienna and Jazzit Salzburg Ciara’s album gained exposure on national television and radio channels such as ORF3 and Ö1. She headlined the 20-year celebration of the Institute for Popular Music at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna\, showcasing a big band version of her composition “The Call to See Beyond”. \n\n\n\nCiara’s talent and dedication have earned her various awards such as the “next jazz legacy award”\, winning the “2024new generation jazz lab competition”\, the “Ascap Young Jazz composers Award” securing a spot in the Jazz Ahead Program (led by Jason Moran) and Woodshed Network Residency (led by Dee Dee Bridgewater)\, earning the “Matt Marvuglio Student of the Year” award in 2021\, becoming a finalist in the Lee Ritenour Six String Theory Competition\, receiving the Tara Life Goes On Award\, receiving the “Johann Ratzenböck”-scholarship and winning the first price at the well-known austrian classical competition “Prima La Musica”. \n\n\n\nCiara had appearances on multiple TV shows like the austrian talk show series “Barbara Karlich” and “Vera.” Since March 2019\, she has hosted her own podcast\, “Blind. Starting at the Boston Arts Academy\, Jesse cultivated his musicality studying Classical music with Boston Conservatory Professor Harriet Lundberg and Jazz under Hey Rim Jeon through the Berklee City Music Program. \n\n\n\nThroughout his academic journey at the Arts Academy and Berklee\, Jesse engaged with luminaries such as Phillip Bailey\, Seymour Bernstein\, Dr. Billy Taylor\, Regina Carter\, George Duke\, Walter Beasley\, Doug Johnson\, Laszlo Gardony\, Joanne Brackeen\, En Vogue\, Patrice Rushen\, Geri Allen\, Gavin Degraw\, Mark Gross\, Lou Cash\, Boston Pops\, Hugh Masakela\, Bill Charlap\, Vincent Herring\, and Cecil Bridgewater.  \n\n\n\nAs an active participant in the Boston music scene\, he directed Boston-based group Jazz Urbane\, was the driving force behind the Jesse Taitt Trio\, and earned recognition as a dedicated AmeriCorp Community Leader and Public Allies Leader. \n\n\n\nJesse’s impact extended beyond his performances\, as he also contributed as an Artist-Educator in the Boston Arts Academy’s Alumni Creative Core program. Notably\, he achieved international recognition as an International Guest Artist in Rwanda during the summer of 2013. There\, he led master classes and headlined the Kigali UP Festival\, collaborating with esteemed artists like Joey Blake and sharing his artistry on projects alongside the likes of George Duke\, Terri Lyne Carrington\, and Christian Scott. \n\n\n\nA pursuit of excellence led Jesse to complete his Masters in Music with a focus on Jazz Arranging and Composition at William Paterson University in 2017. Today\, Jesse is Assistant Professor in the Harmony and Jazz Composition Department and Lecturer of Jazz Piano at Dartmouth College. \n\n\n\nAs a skilled pianist\, composer\, and educator\, Jesse continually ventures into new musical and philanthropic realms. He holds a Master of Science in Operation Research and a Master of Business Administration. Since 2016\, he has resided in Boston\, Massachusetts\, where he has performed concerts in several cities across the U.S. and abroad. \n\n\n\nRuiz won the Global Music Award twice in 2022 and was a semifinalist at “Premios de la Música Independiente of Spain.” He is an associated member of The Latin Recording Academy® and The American Society of Composers\, Authors\, and Publishers. \n\n\n\nAs a former member of the Rumbarroco Ensemble of Boston\, Ruiz has been an invited music instructor and performer with various institutions\, including ArCoNet (The Arts & Community Network) in Montgomeryville\, Pennsylvania. He has also performed for Eddy Marcano\, the Lorcas Music Society by Belmary Lorcas\, The Winiker Jazz Trio\, Zaira Meneses\, Berklee College of Music in Boston\, ArtBeat 2019 (Somerville’s largest cultural festival)\, the Dalí Quartet International Music Festival (2017 and 2018)\, the Latin Music Festival at Berklee College of Music (2019)\, and Semana Coral Internacional De Alava in Spain (2000). \n\n\n\nRuiz began his musical studies in Venezuela at the age of eight\, playing the Cuatro\, or Venezuelan guitar\, and as a violist\, in which he was one of the founding musicians of his town’s El Sistema youth symphony orchestra division. \n\n\n\nIn addition to his music career\, Ruiz is a sought-after speaker. In 2018\, he was invited to speak for a nonprofit organization at Boston University called Plan País\, which provides educational experiences to young Venezuelans studying abroad. More recently\, Ruiz was invited to speak at the INCAE Business School in Costa Rica and Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. \n\n\n\nRuiz is a music teacher in various Boston-area music programs\, and an active board member for multiple Bostonian and Philadelphian non-for-profit organizations. He is passionate about connecting with every individual by expanding their awareness of culture and society. Furthermore\, during his career as an economist\, he has been driven by the power of innovation for every organization. As a musician\, he strongly believes in the value and power of art for humanity. SUMMARY:Leo Blanco
DESCRIPTION:THE MUSIC OF PIANIST & COMPOSER LEO BLANCO……pulses with global rhythmic elements influenced equally by his South American roots and European classical traditions interwoven with improvisatory developments. \n\n\n\nBlanco was born in the Venezuelan Andes where he absorbed folk music genres that were a mix of Afro-Caribbean\, North American and European musical styles.  By age eleven he was a violinist in the Merida Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 1996\, his interest in world music and jazz brought him to Boston’s Berklee College of Music and he later earned a Master’s Degree in Composition at New England Conservatory.  \n\n\n\nIn 1997 Blanco became the first Latin American to win to the prestigious Boston Jazz Society Award. The next year\, he received the Billboard Grant Award for his commitment\, achievement and contribution to society through music. Currently\, he is a faculty member at Berklee College of Music. Blanco has shared the stage with major international jazz artists including Terence Blanchard\, Pat Metheny\, Chucho Valdez (Irakere) and Joao Bosco. He has performed at numerous festivals including the Montreaux Jazz Festival\, North Sea Jazz Festival\, Newport Jazz Festival\, Monterey Jazz Festival\, Edinburgh International Festival and the Latino Festival and at the Kennedy Center.  Blanco has produced and composed four albums under his name.
