SUMMARY:Grace Givertz
DESCRIPTION:Born and raised in Jupiter\, Florida\, Grace Givertz (she/her) has been writing songs and performing since she was eleven years old. Following her first EP The Light in 2017\, Grace turned her wit to grit when she released her independent record Year of the Horse (2019). Playing guitar\, banjo\, mandolin\, and harmonica in addition to vocals\, Year of the Horse showcases Grace’s ability to turn lemons into lemonade. She writes openly about living with chronic illness and how it has affected every aspect of her life\, turning tragedy into a triumphant debut. \n\n\n\nSince her arrival in Boston in 2016\, Grace Givertz has been featured in several publications including The Boston Globe\, Vanyaland\, and Allston Pudding. A two-time Boston Music Award nominee\, Grace has performed at well-loved Boston venues including Club Passim\, Brighton Music Hall\, The Burren\, and Great Scott. In 2022\, Grace was invited to join the inaugural cohort of the Harvard Ed Portal’s artist pipeline program. Grace is currently facilitating a series of songwriting workshops at Harvard with a focus on accessible music education. \n\n\n\nGrace is currently recording her sophomore album\, which will exclusively feature musicians and collaborators from BIPOC\, LGBTQ\, and disabled communities. The inclusion we long to see in the folk community will not happen if we do not employ the people who have so long been excluded. She is a 2022 Live Arts Boston grant recipient from The Boston Foundation supporting her next album. \n\n\n\n“The only real option is to smile at how much [Grace] packs into a tiny punch of a song.”  – digboston \n\n\n\ngracegivertz.com \n\n\n\nPhoto Credit: Omari Spears

SUMMARY:Kaovanny
DESCRIPTION:Missobrown Artist and Berklee Alumni\, Kaovanny aka La Caoba\, is a fusion in her existence. Representing a hybrid\, spanglish generation\, she seamlessly fuses sounds and movement from her Latinx upbringing\, as well as the Black artists who raised her across several musical genres. Coming from a lineage of bold authors\, Kaovanny speaks to the dualities in culture\, religion\, identity\, sexuality and everything she’s learning that it is and isn’t. Using music to celebrate\, communicate\, and worship\, Kaovanny naturally floats between her masculine and feminine energies in her delivery\, to connect\, educate\, and then entertain. Although performance is her main medium\, Kaovanny is a creative entrepreneur and educator with a focus on healing\, developing and advancing black and brown communities through natural medicine\, sports\, movement and music. She has toured Colombia\, Brazil and the US hosting workshops by day and performing at night. Her latest single ‘War Cry’ and EP ‘Tres’ can be found on all streaming platforms. SUMMARY:Already Dead
DESCRIPTION:Dan Cummings\, singer songwriter of Already Dead (Boston-based working class punk rock) brings an intimate yet energetic set of music. His performance contains anthemic songs of self reflection and working class social commentary in a folk-punk style. Already Dead’s debut album My Collar is Blue was recorded at The Bridge Sound and Stage in Cambridge\, Mass.\, and the seven-song sampler platter of punk – led by three singles in “Stability\,” the title track\, and “City’s Burnin’” – was released in October 2022\, helping earn Already Dead a nomination for Punk Artist of the Year at the 2022 Boston Music Awards.  \n\n\n\n“If The Clash were dubbed the ‘thinking man’s yobs\, maybe we can call Already Dead the ‘thinking man’s Massholes’?”-Hump Day New  \n\n\n\n“The anthemic “My Collar Is Blue\,” a street-punk fight song fueled by folk mindfulness\, a slight outlaw country twang\, and proper nods to their Celtic heritage (complete with bodhrán and mandolin)\, roars out of the speakers with an impassioned\, all-together fury. It’s a heavy battlecry\, relaying a message that carries forward from generation to generation.”- NEW NOISE MAGAZINE 11/16/22 \n\n\n\n@already_dead_music

SUMMARY:Dwayne Haggins
DESCRIPTION:He’s been described as “the love child of Otis Redding and Doc Watson.” “The John Legend of rockabilly.” And recently\, “a ‘what-took-you-so-long’ fusion of Elvis and Marvin Gaye.” But he is Dwayne Haggins\, and his voice is his own. Whether on the stage of a metropolitan concert hall or the makeshift bandstand of a neighborhood dive\, you will find him exploring uncharted musical territories\, listening for new ways to stir his influences into this night’s expression of his unique sound – strangely familiar\, naturally mysterious\, unmistakably his own. \n\n\n\nNotably\, Haggins has shared the stage with acts such as Joe Bonamassa\, Keb Mo\, Jimmy Vivino\, Chris Lane\, Suzanne Santo\, and Fitz and the Tantrums. Haggins was signed in November of 2021 and his Verdict debut LP was released in June of 2022 titled “Call Me Boston”. \n\n\n\ndwaynehaggins.com \n\n\n\nInstagram & FB: @hagginsmusic

SUMMARY:Ash & Eric
DESCRIPTION:Ash & Eric have never shied away from life’s hard edges. Hailing from the gritty heart of the Industrial Revolution — Worcester\, Massachusetts — the two find consolation in discovering the beauty of being artists in the most stubbornly independent city in the north east. Their musings reflect the hope and pain we all experience sung in voices as vulnerable and honest as their lyrics. \n\n\n\nwww.ashandericmusic.com \n\n\n\nInstagram @ashandericmusic; https://www.facebook.com/ashandericmusic

SUMMARY:The Russ Gershon Trio with special guest John Mulkerin of Defunkt
DESCRIPTION:Multi-instrumentalist Russ Gershon has been a force on the Boston jazz\, rock and Latin scene for over 40 years. As the leader of the Grammy-nominated Either/Orchestra\, he has toured the world and made a dozen albums\, as well as leading the popular Latin Bugalú band Lookie Lookie and the electric period Miles Davis exploration “Listen to This.” He is also heard as a classical music announcer on WCRB-FM. In his trio he is joined by the E/O bassist and drummer\, Rick McLaughlin and Brooke Sofferman. \n\n\n\nTrumpeter John Mulkerin – an early hometown collaborator of Gershon’s in Connecticut – moved to NYC and became a player on the Downtown avant-funk scene\, most notably in Joseph Bowie’s Defunkt\, which has been touring Europe regularly since the Age of Reagan. \n\n\n\nThe Trio plays originals and music by Rahsaan Roland Kirk\, Duke Ellington\, Clifford Jordan\, Richard Thompson\, the Monkees and more. \n\n\n\n“Immensely satisfying\, with all manner of variety — emotionally\, musically\, in the solos and arrangements… [Gershon] plays beautifully\, with great musicality — as a composer and bandleader sensitive to compositional details and arrangements. [The] show held the ear and the mind and body at every moment.” – Jon Garelick (Boston Globe & Boston Phoenix contributor) on jongarelick.com
