SUMMARY:FableVision Presents: Day of Play!
DESCRIPTION:All ages welcome \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnCommon Corner\, Boylston St &\, Tremont St\, Boston\, MA 02116 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Emerson Day of Play\n\n\n\nis a day of connection\, fun\, and in-person play at the UnCommon Corner and Harpoon Beer Garden\, located at the corner of Boylston and Tremont in the Boston Common. The event is inspired by the Come Out and Play Festivals in New York\, San Francisco and Philadelphia.Emerson students and local game designers have built six original\, in-person outdoor games to get Bostonians new and old excited about the new school year. Visitors will run\, jump\, hunt goblins\, laugh through games of chess\, hit a target or two\, experience the epic highs and lows of moving in Boston\, learn the time-honored art of constructing giant sandwiches\, and try not to explode in the process. We welcome all students\, families\, and passers-by to drop in or spend all day with us at the UnCommon Corner between 12 and 5PM. Play\, be loud\, have fun and meet some new friends! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBean Time!\n\n\n\nBean Time! Is a physical sorting game that challenges two teams\, or two individuals\, to complete as many sorted coffee recipes as they can in 60 seconds. Each recipe calls for a specific combination of coffee beans and other ingredients that can be found in a bag shared by players. \n\n\n\nA recipe is completed when the number of ingredients called for is placed in a team’s coffee cup. Teams can choose to play competitively\, winning by individually having the most recipe cards completed\, or cooperatively by collectively having more recipe cards than previous rounds. Because Bean Time! takes only 60 seconds\, the game offers quick\, replayable fun. \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nMeg Thurmeier\, Carol Cheng\, Takara Bayley-Gale \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCafe Quest\n\n\n\nCafe Quest is a paper-based scavenger hunt that challenges young players to explore the environment for clues\, solve simple puzzles\, and gather information in order to solve the case of stolen coffee beans. Players take on the role of a detective as they travel throughout the Uncommon Corner and interact with various “witnesses” including staff members and original hand-drawn characters. \n\n\n\nTo begins players are provided a mission briefing\, pencils and an investigation log. From there\, they move through five locations to complete puzzles and solve the case. Gameplay takes about 15-20 minutes. \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nAndrew Chen\, Xuan Jiang\, Maggie Stewart \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCozy Grandpa Hipster Sweaters\n\n\n\nCozy Grandpa Hipster Sweaters is a fast-paced memory matching game where two players race to design a colorful sweater using recycled materials. Players take turns looking through a grid of 36 coffee coaster cards and attempt to find two matching coasters. If a player finds a match\, they run to a fabric recycling bin and find the fabric strip that matches their pattern. This strip is then added to their sweater. The first player to complete their sweater wins. \n\n\n\nCozy Grandpa Hipster Sweaters helps younger players build skills in memory retention\, and offers lessons in sustainability and upcycling. The game also provides players a photo opportunity with their finished sweaters. \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nMaggie Stewart\, Xiaoyang Wu\, Xinyu Morris \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDunk the Donuts\n\n\n\nDunk the Donuts is a competitive two player game where the goal is to knock donuts and other food items from their display stands. The game is set over a large coffee cup which food falls into when knocked down. Each food item has a point value and the player that obtains the most points wins. Bonus points can also be earned by landing a donut hole (the object players throw) into the golden cup. The competitive spirit of Dunk the Donuts and its focus on physical accuracy helps teach players physical coordination and respectful competition. \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nArmando Barbosa\, Takara Bayley-Gale\, and Qihao “Anthony” Hong \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho’s on Shift?\n\n\n\nWho’s on Shift? is a 4-6 player social deduction game. Each player takes on the role of a staff member at a newly opened restaurant. Players will be assigned as manager\, loyal employee\, or troublemaker. The manager and regular employees want to keep the restaurant running smoothly for 4 days. The troublemaker wants to cause problems so the restaurant closes. \n\n\n\nEach day players decide which player “goes on shift” and the player on shift is able to play cards in secret that affect gameplay. Who’s on Shift? is a social game that requires strong attention to detail\, deception and focused communication. \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nShuo Deng\, Qihao Hong\, Yutao Liu

DESCRIPTION:Emily Nawrocki\n\n\n\n\nPresented by:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChildren from ages 2 – 5 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnCommon Corner\, Boylston St &\, Tremont St\, Boston\, MA 02116\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Mobile Learning Adventure (MLA) is a traveling exhibit that provides an opportunity for parents and caregivers to learn about the importance of early childhood education while they engage in fun activities with their children. \n\n\n\nThe MLA is a part of PNC Grow Up Great – a $500 million\, multi-year bilingual initiative that began in 2004 tohelp prepare children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life. \n\n\n\nThe MLA leads families through different activities outlined below. At the beginning of their adventure\, families receive a Passport Book that guides them through the activities\, earning stickerbadges throughout the exhibit. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1. Registration Table & Passport\n\n\n\nThis table is where families will receive their passport booklet to take with them throughout the activation. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2. Making Choices Disc Run\n\n\n\nIn this activity\, children explore “wants” vs. “needs” as a foundation for making financial choices. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n3. Paper Hat Occupation Station (Craft Table)\n\n\n\nAt this station\, children will select and decorate a paper hat that corresponds with our available occupations at the photo station. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n4. Costume Wall\n\n\n\nChildren will choose an occupation to dress up as what they’d like to be when they grow up (examples include a police officer\, firefighter\, chef\, artist and more). Their photo will be taken at the photo station. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n5. When I Grow Up Photo Station\n\n\n\nChildren will have their photo taken in their costume\, with an occupational background! The photo will be printed right there in the MLA & families can take it home in a PNC Grow Up Great frame. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n6. Take Home Learning Resources Table\n\n\n\nOne of the key goals of the Mobile Learning Adventure is that learning does not stop after families leave our tents. At the end of the footprint\, families receive a PNC Grow Up Great tote bag with learning resources to continue to inspire their children and help build a strong educational foundation.

SUMMARY:Dwayne Haggins
DESCRIPTION:Emily Nawrocki\n\n\n\n\nUnCommon Corner\, Boylston St &\, Tremont St\, Boston\, MA 02116\n\n\n\nHe’s been described as “the love child of Otis Redding and Doc Watson.” “The John Legend of rockabilly.” And recently\, “a ‘what-took-you-so-long’ fusion of Elvis and Marvin Gaye.” But he is Dwayne Haggins\, and his voice is his own. Whether on the stage of a metropolitan concert hall or the makeshift bandstand of a neighborhood dive\, you will find him exploring uncharted musical territories\, listening for new ways to stir his influences into this night’s expression of his unique sound – strangely familiar\, naturally mysterious\, unmistakably his own. \n\n\n\nNotably\, Haggins has shared the stage with acts such as Joe Bonamassa\, Keb Mo\, George Thorogood\, John Oates\, Charles Wesley Godwin\, and members of the Tedeschi Trucks Band. In September of 2025 Haggins and band independently released their most recent studio album titled ‘Straggler’. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstagram\n\nFacebook
