With Anacaona\, Barbara has toured worldwide\, and participated in numerous international festivals. Among them are\, Nuits D’Afrique\, in Montreal Canada\, the Sunfest\, in London\, Canada\, Aruba’s International Jazz Festival\, Salsa al Parque in Bogota\, Colombia\, and many more. Also with Anacaona\, she participated in a musical theater play\, El Burgués Gentilhombre\, which was featured at the famous Chaillot theater in Paris\, the Metropolitan Hall in Mexico City\, and the prestigious Cabaret at the Monte Carlo Casino\, in Monaco. \n\n\n\nBarbara’s extensive career spans beyond the high esteemed Orquesta Anacaona. She has \n\n\n\nparticipated in various productions as a back – up singer\, including “La Rumba Soy Yo” which obtained a Latin Grammy in 2001\, “Versos en el Cielo” by Isaac Delgado\, and “Control” by Manolito y su Trabuco. She is celebrated for her impactful songs that hold deep cultural significance in the Black community\, including “A Kwanzaa Song\,” “Black Lives Matter\,” and “Juneteenth.” Lovely Hoffman is also an actress and received the IRNE Award for Best Actress in a Musical for portraying Celie in the New England premiere of “The Color Purple.” She has been honored with the Elliot Norton Award and was part of the ensemble that received the Best Ensemble recognition for the production of  “Ain’t Misbehavin.”  Lovely has been featured on CNN\, BET\, The Boston Globe\, and Essence Magazine.  Lovely recently graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Education (Ed.M)\, where she focused on Arts and Learning. A proud KabuVerdiana hailing from New Bedford\, Massachusetts\, Candida Rose is dedicated to studying and educating about the transnational musical legacy of Cabo Verdean Americans; she has published a book on this topic\, KabuMerikanus – the Sum of US\, based on original research for which she received a Master’s degree in Transnational\, Cultural\, and Community Studies from UMass Boston. Candida’s educational efforts have received national attention through a feature on PBS’s No Passport Required; her scholarship on Cabo Verdean women in music was published in a scholarly edited collection\, Kriolas Poderozas; and her research travels to Cabo Verde are the topic of a forthcoming documentary film directed by Dr. Rosalyn Negrón\, called Candida. He grew up in Cape Cod where he played around since the age of 15 and eventually received a B.A. in music from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. \n\n\n\nIn 2017\, Zion teamed up with producer Alex Katz and released his debut full-length record You’re Invited. The folk-rock album received praise and local media attention following its anticipated release. Crossfader Magazine wrote that in an era of “lo-fi bedroom projects\, it’s refreshing to hear a young creative voice this professionally produced\, fully realized\, and cohesively structured around a distinct personality and energy.” \n\n\n\nLess than a year later\, Zion released an EP titled “Did Not Wake up Today” on January 20th\, 2018. This project features heavier topics and harder rock than his debut album. Even before its release\, the title track was recognized by AFROPUNK: “Rodman turns up the volume of his melodic indie pop\, with his stunning voice just barely masking his anger beneath the hook.” \n\n\n\nHis most recent album “Whatever Happens” was recorded in Chicago and released in 2020. Zion currently lives in Boston with his fiancé and their cats.
