SUMMARY:HipStory Presents The Break
DESCRIPTION:HipStory Presents The Break featuring Dear\, Rose & S AND R\n\n\n\n\n\n“The Break” is bi-weekly showcase dedicated to Boston’s hip-hop/R&B artists and DJs\, connecting the city’s underground talent with new audiences. This program is curated by HipStory. \n\n\n\n\n\nArtist Bios\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDear\, Rose Trio\n\n\n\nDear\, Rose is a modern trio blending jazz\, hip-hop\, gospel\, and soul into honest\, intentional music. We love creating moments that feel both intimate and powerful—whether we’re playing original music\, reimagining familiar songs\, or supporting other artists. Every performance is rooted in groove\, connection\, and the belief that music can bring people together. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nS AND R\n\n\n\nS AND R is the indie-alternative partnership of Saxon Kennedy and Reeve Pope\, bringing an uproarious rock instrumentation to vulnerable\, genre-bending songwriting. Their world is expanding with alternative hip hop-tinged second EP DOWNDOWNDOWN\, a five-act story about spiraling relationships\, fractured friendships\, and unraveling mental health. \n\n\n\nSaxon and Reeve find dialogue onstage\, drum fills responding to guitar riffs and lyrics in a tight embrace. Saxon screams moody confessionals: queerness\, community\, love\, loss\, friends. Behind the drum set\, Reeve retorts in rhythms that pull these quivering stories together. They are backed by a rotating cast of faces that join them onstage\, in the studio\, and behind the scenes. \n\n\n\nThese are the stories that compel you to listen\, to dance\, to shout\, to linger. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstagram\n\nYouTube

SUMMARY:Jonah & Maya
DESCRIPTION:BAMS Fest presents S.O.U.L.stice\n\n\n\n\nUnCommon Corner\, Boylston St &\, Tremont St\, Boston\, MA 02116\n\n\n\nJonah and Maya are a pair of musical friends based in Boston. The two originally met through a jazz improvisation class at Berklee\, quickly discovering each others’ shared love of all things folk music. \n\n\n\nOriginally from Connecticut\, guitarist and songwriter Jonah Birtwell grew up playing and writing indie folk music\, inspired by artists such as Adrienne Lenker and Field Medic. While studying at Berklee\, Jonah delved into traditional American music through his involvement with Berklee’s American Roots Department\, creatively combining his intricate fingerstyle guitar playing with traditional ballads and instrumental tunes.  \n\n\n\nOriginally from Pennsylvania\, fiddler/violinist Maya Leibowitz grew up steeped in various fiddle music traditions\, deepening her understanding of American roots music and her improvisational skills at Berklee. While at Berklee\, she learned how to accompany songwriters such as Jonah\, lending tasteful melodic ideas to any song. \n\n\n\nThe two have brought their shared roots music language\, improvisational ideas\, and harmonic sensibilities to many projects and jam sessions alike. The duo most recently collaborated on a live concept album titled The Fox’s Tale\, a collection of Maya’s original folk-jazz instrumentals that center around a fairytale. Their blend of Jonah’s profound songwriting\, Maya’s repertoire of original and traditional fiddle tunes\, and re-interpretations of folk songs is both ancient and timeless\, creating an unique musical experience that anyone is sure to enjoy. \n\n\n\n\nInstagram\n\nFacebook\n\n\n\n\nMaya Leibowitz \n\n\n\n\nInstagram\n\nSpotify\n\nTikTok\n\n\n\n\nJonah Birtwell
