SUMMARY:FableVision Presents: Day of Play!
DESCRIPTION:Boylston T Stop\, Boylston St & Tremont St\, Boston\, MA 02116 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Emerson UnCommon Stage and Harpoon Beer Garden Day of Play is a day of connection\, fun and in-person play at the Emerson UnCommon Stage and Harpoon Beer Garden\, located at the corner of Boylston and Tremont in the Boston Common.  The event is inspired by the Come Out and Play Festivals in New York\, San Francisco and Philadelphia.  \n\n\n\nEmerson students and local game designers have built six original\, in-person outdoor games related (albeit tangentially) to life in Boston to get Bostonians new and old excited about the new school year. Visitors will run\, hop\, have cut-throat games of friendship\, frantically throw beanbags\, utilize hula hoops\, ride in inflatable boats\, toss tea\, miss trains and hunt goblins. We welcome all students\, families\, and passers-by to drop in or spend all day with us at the UnCommon Stage and Harpoon Beer Garden between 12 and 5PM. Play\, be loud\, have fun and meet some new friends!  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDifficult Hop-Scotch\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGetting around Boston is easy! It’s just a hop\, skip and a jump away. Take the Red Line (unless it has slow zones). Or the Green Line (unless it’s disabled for track maintenance). Take the Orange Line (unless it’s on fire). Or you can just take the Blue Line and stay in Eastie forever. Four players play competitive\, simultaneous hopscotch on four T lines to try and be the first to make it home safely.  \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nHabeebh Sylla\, Henry Kacik\, Evan Tsapatsaris\, Regan McKenzie \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEmerson Troll Hunt\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSo you’re going to become a media student? Congratulations! You’d better get used to trolls early. Don’t worry\, we’ve got you covered. Start training to look for trolls hiding all around the Day of Play UnCommon Stage and Harpoon Beer Garden space. When you find one\, see what it has to say and assemble the message…but don’t think too hard about it\, they’re just trolls. After a while they even start to look sort of cute! \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nZoe Deyermond\, Peyton Schweibert\, Zeang Fang\, Chris Fortin \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBoston Tea Party\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBoston is a city of history: the freedom trail\, the shot heard around the world and the infamous Boston tea party! Join us for this almost accurate reenactment of the Boston tea party where patriots feverishly try to throw tea bags into the harbor and tories feverishly try and throw them back out of the harbor. We’re pretty sure it happened like that. \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nNicole Armbrecht\, Mikayla Lastowski\, Helen Bo\, Liwei Wang \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCompetitive Friendship\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt’s good to have new friends. But who’s the BEST friend? Will you win this friendship? And most importantly\, how do you prove to your new friends that you are the best at friendship? By playing Competitive Friendship of course! In this game you’ll have an intense two-player competition at simple “getting to know you” games. Whoever reaches their side of the board will be victorious. May the best friend win! \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nSarina LoPresti\, Emma Millin\, Lang (Oscar) Qin \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCharles River Regatta Go\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Charles River divides Boston from Cambridge and on crisp Boston autumn mornings\, you can see collegiate rowers silently slicing their boat through the still water. Jealous? Don’t worry\, this in-person game will train you to be exactly like a professional crew member. First don your Personal Floatation Device and then step into the inflatable boat. Use two to four facsimile oars to row your boat along your digital Charles River. Just make sure you steer straight\, avoid obstacles and go as fast as possible! \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nZiba Scott\, Ichiro Lambe\, Kellian Pletcher\, Luigi Guatieri and Members of the Boston Indie Games Collective \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMoving Day\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDid you know that ALL RENTAL LEASES in Boston begin on September 1st? If you don’t\,  you will someday when you join Boston Christmas:  the insane\, competitive\, speed-based packing puzzle that is Moving Day in Boston every September. By moving more boxes than you knew you had\, you’ll collaborate with your new roommates and also compete with your new roommates. You’ll laugh\, you’ll cry\, you’ll probably scream and hopefully\, eventually\, you’ll move into your new apartment. \n\n\n\nGame Designers:\n\n\n\nKellian Pletcher\, Marie Hubert and the Teams From FableVision Studios and Red Fox Escapes \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDJ Lineup\n\n\n\n\n12:30 – 2:30 PM: KNSZWRTH \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOriginally from Haiti\, KNSZWRTH (pronouns: he/him) first arrived in Boston for college in 2004. Kenny then cut his teeth at mission-driven organizations like the West End House Boys and Girls Club\, Cambridge Youth Programs\, the Cambridge Public Library and more recently\, Now + There\, before joining the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture as Chief of Staff. As a DJ\, therapeutic mentor\, film photographer\, board certified basketball referee\, and plant dad\, Kenny is passionate about connecting with communities and individuals that share a passion and excitement around conversations and experiences that open minds and help co-create spaces to celebrate the creative diversity of Boston’s dynamic and ever-changing cultural fabric.  \n\n\n\n\n3:00 – 5:00 PM: Little Kil0 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Hailing from Houston\, Texas\, I am Little Kil0. I’m latinx\, queer\, and I see my therapist weekly. I like good music and I’m pretty good with flags.”

Having followed his natural desire to work with samples\, he also embarked on a lifelong crate digging obsession.Fast forward to now and that obsession has paid off\, with a stack of notable releases under his belt\, including two instrumental projects\, The Synth Tape and The Soviet Tape. The two releases provided an insight into Manipulator’s beat-making prowess and demonstrated the value of his sample hunting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGibson Alcott\, professionally known as GIB DJ is a producer and composer and DJ from Allston\, MA. SUMMARY:We Black Folk Kickoff- Presented by BAMS and HipStory
DESCRIPTION:Mal Devisa is the songwriting\, liberation\, and poetry project of multifarious artist Deja Carr. Starting in 2014 and breaking through with 2016’s Kiid\, Mal Devisa’s work spans a selfmade spectrum of sound from gravitic\, soulful rock to soliloquy to unabashed hip hop. Although known for her unmistakable\, smoldering voice and loop-based\, bass-forward compositions\, Carr’s talents also extend to reaches of spoken word and production\, paralleled by aspirations to start both a youth foundation and Afrobeat orchestra. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCinamon Blair is a singer\, songwriter\, musician and has been growing her creative expression over the past 40 years. “I love to sing\, vocalize harmonies and use music as a tool to self-sooth as well as to build connections\, educate and activate myself and the listener into whatever needs to happen.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLydia “The LovelySinger” Harrell is one of Boston’s finest musical treasures. Her sultry\, soulful voice and evocative songwriting have garnered her the attention and respect of the nation’s finest musicians and venues.  Jazz/Soul is where her heart is\, however\, Lydia has shown an unbreakable ability to mold herself into any musical situation.  Be it performing with the Boston Pops\, serenading NBA fans with America’s National Anthem\, or lending her vocal talents to a chart-topping deep house singles by British record label\, Reel People Music\, Lydia’s dedication to extracting the pure essence of song goes virtually unmatched. Some of her notable musical accolades include singing lead on a Bob Marley Tribute Album distributed by Sony Music Latin\, winning the 2015 Duke Ellington Jazz Vocal Competition\, performing at the Apollo Theater in Harlem\, NYC (2016)\, winning the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival Voice Competition and winner of the Best Song at the 48 Hour Film Project Boston. More recently\, Lydia sang on the 2022 Daytime Emmy Winning song\, “Grateful For It All” written by Brad Hatfield\, Gaye Tolan Hatfield and Jeff Meegan and aired on The Young and The Restless in May 2021. Lydia was invited to sing backing vocals for the great Jon Batiste in September 2022 along with The Boston Pops accompanying. In addition to her accomplishments as a musical artist\, Lydia is a film/TV\, voiceover and theatre actress. She has appeared in many commercials\, films and theatre productions. She was cast in the New Repertory Theatre production of “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill” playing the role of the one and only Billie Holiday. Unfortunately the show was canceled due to the pandemic. Since then\, Lydia has appeared in the 2023 Hulu/20th Century Film\, Boston Strangler and performed as Sarah’s Friend in Ragtime: The Symphonic Concert with the Boston Pops. In March 2023\, she released her first single that she composed\, performed and produced in many years\, Don’t Let It. Since being a part of the Club Passim Folk Collective\, Lydia has become inspired to record several new projects all coming very soon. Lydia is also a voice instructor at\, one of the top music colleges in the world\, Berklee College of Music and Berklee Online. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMelo Green is a New England based Indie artist who loves to blend folk\, rock and R+B music. You may know of him from his appearances with Kids on A Hill\, The Frotations\, The Velcro Soul\, The C.O.M.P and Boston Common Band.  In the words of Thich Nhat Hahn\, “Don’t just do something\, sit there” and listen to Melo Green. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProlific collaborator and award-winning multimedia artist Cliff Notez seamlessly manifests a mix of hip hop\, jazz\, folk\, soul and R&B that’s been likened to “Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly\, blended with the paranoia of Radiohead’s Kid A.”Their music reveals the repercussions of trauma\, exposes the realities of the Black experience\,and shares an intimate journey towards healing. Heavy lyrical themes are often juxtaposed with uplifting sounds: bright horns\, sparkling keys\, snappy percussion and glowing guitar riffs. Cliff Notez’s work has caught the attention of publications like The New York Times\, NPR\, The Boston Globe\, and Boston Herald\, among others and have garnered shoutouts from the likes of Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley. They performed at Boston Calling Music Festival in 2022 and have previously shared the stage with Ja Rule and Gym Class Heroes. It’s no surprise Uproxx dubbed Cliff “one of the most remarkable music figures in Boston\,” as their influence extends far beyond the hip hop scene. Passionate about social justice and amplifying Black stories\, Cliff Notez has worked hard to give back to their local community and to lobby for inclusion. Currently an Assistant Professor at the Berklee College of Music—and having previously taught at Harvard\, MIT\, Emerson\, and Northeastern University—Notez shares their industry expertise in college classrooms and they are working to develop Berklee’s first Bachelor of Arts in Black Music. As the founder of digital media company HipStory\, Cliff Notez brought hip hop to one of the largest art museums in the world. Their programming for the Late Nite series at the Museum of Fine Arts created an opportunity for rappers to perform at one of Boston’s most prestigious institutions—giving the genre access to cultural conversations it is often left out of. Cliff Notez was named “Best Musician” and one of the “100 Most Influential Bostonians” by Boston Magazine\, and listed among the “50 Most Influential Bostonians” by Boston Common Magazine. With over 11 Boston Music Award nominations and as the winner of “Song of the Year” in 2020 and the coveted “Best New Artist” award in 2018\, Cliff Notez continues to be a central figure of the Boston music scene. In 2023 Cliff Notez embarks on an sonically adventurous release schedule of 5 singles that pave the intro for his next opus\, All Us in Wonderland\, beginning with the first track “Could Be Normal” on Feb. 14th that calls back to the lyrical delivery of Outkast and the wonderment of Prince.
