Estefania Núñez Villamandos is a Cuban pianist, film composer, and arranger whose distinct sound blends Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz, and film soundtrack influences. Born in Havana, she began studying piano at the age of six and earned a full scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music. Estefania’s band, Mestizas, has toured the USA and Spain, performing their EP El Alma de la Olvidada, which reimagines forgotten songs with a fresh twist. As a film composer, she has scored short films and documentaries showcased at festivals such as the Women in Animation NYC Film Festival. She recently graduated from the Global Jazz Institute Master’s Program at Berklee, where she developed a thesis on music and schizophrenia entitled The Enigma of Misunderstood Minds. She is currently working on a new album with Mestizas, marking a new era with a more instrumental approach.
